Hi folks. I found a coop on a farm, took pictures, got the guy to build it for me, and now he can't do it. I have pictures and a new builder but don't know if he can figure it out. There are no plans - it was all in the original builder's head! It is a 12' x 12' walk-in with a nesting area/coop in one corner off the ground, with a metal roof. Does anyone have any plans for something like that? Thank you!!

A quality Contractor can build anything, if given the dimensions and pictures.

If your "new builder" can not, then I'd suggest locating a different builder.

also, there is a section on here just about coops. Look at pics and find one you like. My husband has NEVER built anything before, and was able to construct a darn nice coop just out of our heads and the pics on this site.

I would love to build coups for people, but work and family take up all my time. Coups are fun to build because you really don't have to have a plan. There is no inspector that will tell you it's built wrong either. The last one I build I drew up a dimensioned plan, just like you would have if you built a house. I really only used it as a guide and did most of it off the top of my head. so what I am telling you is just like the last person said. If the person you picked can't figure it out from a picture and a basic foot print size you want then I would look for someone else. They are a lot more work than most people (me included) think! It's fun and the ulimate inspectors of your handy work will cluck and tell you it's great!
