Hello fellow chicken people.

I'm about to build the plank for the chickens to enter and exit their coop by. The bottom of the pop door is about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. I have a 5 foot plank that would do nicely but I think it might be too steep. What do you "builders" out there think?

I'm not sure how old you chickens are but they should do okay with that set up. Mine usually just jump/fly even though they have a ramp that is not even close to steep.

I'd try the 5' plank you have. I think if you have adequate cross pieces on it, it'll be ok. If not you could just set the end away from the pop door up on a block or something. As they are birds, and can hop/fly, it's not like it has to be wheel-chair accessible

. My pop door is about 3 1/2' above the ground, so I have an 8' 4X4 with cross pieces nailed to it extending from the coop to a post about 7' away. It gets them to within about 2' of the ground. They hop up and down to it no problem.
