Walmart and Livestock Goods

I buy all my feed down to the local mill. It is way cheaper than buying down to TSC, and most of it is made there, so you support your local farmers at the same time. You can even have them custom mix feed for you, so you don't have to do it at home.

We have one nearby that started carrying scratch and crumble, but the others don't carry it yet. Other than that, no new products for livestock nearby.

I buy from my local feed store. I pay maybe 50 cents to a dollar more a bag, but I would love to see her stay in business as long as possible. For charm, atmosphere, character, knowledge and friendliness, for the most part you can't beat your local feed barn!

Let's see Walmart tell people that you sell duck eggs and send 'em on over!

Well its just the way of the world I guess, but it still sucks that they are trying to even put feed stores out of biz. And its not like it a better OR cheaper product...just convienient

I thought it was just ours that started selling horse stuff. The town where our closest Wal Mart is is horse country. There is a steeple chase track there and its famous in SC for horses, so I thought that was why it had started showing up. I'll keep buying from my local feed store though.

The feed stores may have to contend with WM's prices, but WM must also contend with the feed stores' quality. I've bought scratch at WM when I wasn't able to get to the feed store in time, but the girls would rather "do without, thank you" (that's the attitude they give--I think they're related to me! LOL).
