I've had my hear set on getting chickens and now am facing a move to Arizona where the heat can be intense. I still want to be a chicken momma so I'm here at BYC to learn everything I can about what chickens do best in extreme heat and what I can do to help them.

Chickens with large combs, such as Leghorns, tend to do well in heat.

Welcome! I am sure you will find all your answers here, there are many people very experienced with what suits what chicken best. Have fun and enjoy it!

Many heritage (purebred) breeds of chicken tolerate the heat well, since they have been around forever and have adapted to their environment. What else are you looking for in your chickens? ie. egg colour, egg laying ability, size, colour, free range...
