Hello everyone. I'm new to the chicken community. I don't even have any yet, but doing my research and homework because I do not want to go into this blind. A good friend of mine turned me on to this site and I've been lurking for a few weeks.

I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow. When I get back, project chicken coop is on!! My husband has said that he will help, but he uses that word loosely because he also states that this is alll me... he really wants nothing to do with it (just wait until the cute little chicks arrive... then he will be singing a different tune). I will order them once I have a good start on the chicken coop. Since they have to be indoors for their first 4-5 weeks of life, I can do the finishing touches to the coop when they arrive.

Anyway... I mainly wanted to stop in and say "HI" because I have a feeling I'll be turning to you all a lot for questions.

I researched a year before I got mine in April. Being prepared is an excellent way to go--and fun too. I do recommend getting your coop built or mostly so prior to having the little ones as you'll be mesmerized by them. Check out the coop pages for ideas (lots of them) and think EASY to CLEAN. Don't build anything so you have to hunch over in. Do make it really secure and you'll be much happier. Have fun and take lots of pictures as they grow incredibly fast!

Welcome! You sound exactly like me.....I had to research alot before I took the plunge. And strangely enough, you sound like you're married to my husband's twin!
