want more of this breed but don't know what it is. please help!

Thank you! I'm so bad at identification. I didn't know if it was a rhr, nhr, bo, or some other red hen. What about this one? Is it too considered a sexlink? These ones are really flighty

Thanks again

I don't think these two are Production Reds (they seem a little too dark with too much black in the tail). I think they are hatchery grade Rhode Island Reds.

thanks again, they are a bit more fancy than the red sexlinks but also seem to be a bit nastier. I only have 1 chick (poor gal, wish I had more for her so she wasn't the only baby) and they got her away from mama, I heard mama screaming so ran out and saw her trying to break through the crowd. It was like a school yard fight with all the gossip girl's circling and the big meanie beating up the baby. She had all her neck feathers ripped out it looked like and a little blood spot on her head. So, unfortunately I won't be enjoying their eggs since their going to the pot and I won't be ordering anymore of that breed. I just hope when the sexlinks become top pecks they don't turn mean.
Thanks again, I really don't want to get a mean breed next time around. I was thinking of mixing up the fertilized eggs with some buff orpingtons and light brahmas..unless someone thinks that's a bad idea?

Hmm, I know the baby is a RIR She was ordered as a fertilized egg from my pet chicken, but she's only 3 week's old. I hope that doesn't mean she's going to be mean like these guy's are, really the only nice one's are mama and the young red sex link. The older one's even bite me.

Rhode Island Reds can sometimes be aggressive. That's one of the reasons that I don't raise them anymore. The Buff Orpington and Light Brahmas you are considering are both calm and gentle breeds. Another breed you might consider is the Black Australorp. It has the same calm, gentle disposition of the Orpington (not surprising since Australorps were originally bred using Orpington stock), but is a better layer.

another one here for the australorps, my austrawhites seem more mellow than the australorps or the Rhode Island reds. Austrawhite is a cross between australorp and white leghorn. Can't wait for these girls to start laying ,God willing!

Austra Whites would be good chickens if Kattee doesn't mind hybrids (they won't breed true). Austra Whites have the Australorp rooster's calm temperament combined with the White Leghorn hen's smaller size (they are down the middle) and white (more specifically, off-white) eggs. And like both parents, they are good layers.

I just googled them and they sound great! I have them on my list. When mama goes broody I'm going to order a few of these breeds. I'm excited to get some more docile hens. Mama is a sweetheart but for some reason the rest of her flock are just mean. Thanks so much for the help, I was nervous about getting the wrong breed again, I don't want to screw up again because it is going to be really hard for me to bring these girl's to the 'processors'.

I don't mind hybrid but I do want to get heavier breeds because my smaller one's jump the fence, then panic because they can't get back in and start running at me full force yapping away like they have quite an adventure to tell me about!

mine aren't full grown, so perhaps they will mature smaller, but atm, the austral hits are dwarfing the australorps of the same age.

The Austra Whites mature faster than the Australorps as is often the case with hybrids. However, the fully mature Australorps are larger and heavier chickens than the Austra Whites (size wise they end up midway between the two parent breeds).
