Want to borrow a rooster - how long before eggs will be fertile

all else aside put the rooster with them for 2-3 weeks and then wait for a week before collecting eggs as their plumbing has to catch up. there are 6 eggs in the ova duck at any given time these will be infertile and after the rooster tops the hen's for a few days they will be fertile if the rooster is good. Give yourself a good 10 days to collect eggs and no longer before setting. if the rooster is in with the hen's for a week you can expect 3 weeks of fertile eggs after week one.

Also the rooster must allways go to the hen's location and never the other way around,

I would keep the Rooster for at least 3 weeks. It can be a couple of weeks before the eggs are fertile. Up to that point it is hit and miss. The more time the boy has with the girls the better. After you return your Rooster to his home the hens can lay fertile eggs up to three weeks the first two weeks being the best shot for fertile eggs. This is just from my experience. When I first put my boys in with their girls and collected their eggs the first couple of weeks the fertility was about 50/50 after 3 weeks the fertility increased greatly. I was opening some of the eggs to check for fertility. Eggs for breakfast...
