Want to know what people think of heated plastic waterers (3gallon)

The Farm Inovator heated waterer can be hung, I have mine hanging. In fact they work much better when hung because the waterer is always level.

I have has some of the same issues with mine.
Have any of you figured out a way to flip it
over without spilling the water or is it not
possible. I wonder if we should suggest
some modifications?

After having freezing fingers this morning and using a screwdriver to get my waterer apart to get the ice out... I'm going to try this heated thingy... Just for the winters... then back to the basic one.

vfem, it does keep the water thawed and even with
some issues it is much better dealing with ice. Lowest
temp we have had so far is 14 and it did not freeze.

I hang mine, I used two chains with hooks into each corner of the handle, I have no spillage issues once it's up.

The top of mine has 4 tabs/legs, so long as the handled if folded against itself it stands on it's own. So.. no trouble filling for me...

When I fill it, I leave about 1 or 2" at the top(or bottom as it's now upside down...) then once I get the bottom on it(you know on top of it, lol).
I take it outside.
I look for the gap the water flows out of.
Then I flip it with one hand on the handle and the other gripping it near that hole, so that as it's sideways the hole is up, I let go of the bottom about 3/4 of the turn, while some does still spill its not much and I don't get soaked in the cold.

Per instructions that came with mine---one may have to re-set the temp of the base by putting it in the freezer---(just the base). Mine froze some then I cleaned the base and set it in the freezer a couple hours and no problem---it was +10 last night. -- ---It has fallen apart/leak/pain to fill until I got used to this Chineese manfactured product. It actually is good now that I have gotten used to its poor design. But most products these days are poorly designed and low quality to promote stockholder value short term---and this product is pretty much O.K.

I think I am getting the hang of mine. It worked great all day. I did have to string my electrical chord up the side of the house, through a tree limb accross the shed and into the run.... dang labrador chewed my 1st chord into 3 pieces!! Labs!!! Argh!!!

We have a heated water dish for the girls also .It was regular $50.00 and we bought it on sale for $40.oo . I Love it !! I turned a small plastic white step stool upside down and put the dish on that in the coop..so they cannot flip it over and plus they perch on the stool instead and they lean over the edge more to drink....and hubby ran the cord up the wall leaving me enough cord to lift the dish to wipe it out and clean it every other day...I use a plastic orange juice jug that fills it to the brim...Every morning when I go down to collect the eggs and open the pop door I refill it...we only have one heated dish...I put the red and white one up on the shelf for spring/summer.I have had no problems with the water freezing .
Next Year i will be getting another one for sure....
I got this fantastic idea of this great site...Mercy Merci !
