Hi all,
today all but one of my flock was killed by a fox. Poor Peggy is now a lone chicken, which is very sad for us and distressing to her. My whole family is extremely distraught, but especially my mom. She absolutely adores our chickens, and with me being in college this year, she loves to take care of her chickens to take her mind off of my absense. I want to surprise her with some new hens to help alleviate her sadness.

I sadly ask for any of you who have hens for sale to make offers.I don't care what breed as long as the price isn't too high. I'm in the Kansas City area, specifically Olathe. (This is where my family lives, I'm in college about 45 minutes away) I have never shipped live birds before but would be willing to try it.

Thank you kindly.

Edited to add: I had to input an asking price but please disregard it. Thank you.

I don't live close enough but if I did I'd just give you a few of mine. Sorry for your loss. Could you order some baby chicks from a hatchery? And I also think farm and ranch stores in our area are having fall chick sales right now. Good luck to you.

Thank you for your kindness. The hatcheries I've looked at have been very expensive and the shipping cost is ridiculous. And most of them won't have another shipment until mid October. But I will look into the farm stores near me. Do you have any idea if Orscheln's has chicks this time of year?

I live in NW MO. I've got a few hens I'd sell you fairly cheep. Most would be this years pullets "rare & heritage breeds". If someone can come get them that'd be fine. Or I will be coming through KC next week and can meet you somewhere.

i recommend buying chicks, if you introduce any hens you could be introducing new diseases that Peggy might not be familiar with, and it could be the other way around. I wouldn't want to risk any of your hen's lives. i don't think any big stores are selling cjicks this time of year though, could you wait till' January?

Thank you to everyone for your advice and offers. On Saturday I met a lady at her property in Waverly and got some nice pullets from her. They're doing well in their new home with Peggy now. Thanks for your efforts!
