wanted - cochin hens

No luck she doesn't want to seperate the hens from her roosters, so I am still looking..........

cadman68, Where are you located exactly in Middle Tn? I'm fixing to have to order some pullets (chicks). I hate to have to start again with babies but I figure it is better to get them in warm weather. I just gave away 7 standard cochin roo's last night and now I'm ready to even out my roo/hen ratio.
I've also been told by others that getting older hens can be a danger... disease etc. A friend of mine bought some at the livestock auction in Franklin Ky recently and she said one died on the way home and then the others died soon after.

countrygirl,

I live in Dickson which is about 30 minutes west of Nashville and i would be very interested in going in with you on an order. how far away do you live from me?

I live right on the ky/tn line in Robertson county near I-65. I'm probably an hour from you if even that. By the way a crow flies it may be shorter.
I've been searching for standard cochins online and they aren't easy to find. Have you done a search for them? I looked at Ideal but they really don't have what I want. I'm looking for Blue, Buff, White, Brahmas. I hate to have to go down the baby trail again but I will if necessary. What types are you wanting? How many?I'm only wanting pullets. Lord knows I don't need roo's.

I would really like some partridge, but if we go in on an order i would get another type also, probably a buff or two.

Yes i have looked into finding some at a hatchery but it appears that they are mostly out until fall. I did find one that has several types still available. Let me see if I can find it again................

Here we go, take a look and see what you think. I don't know anything about this one but it appears they can ship starting aug 6 so they do have them.

By they way i am only interested in about 10 or so and thier min order is 25.

How close do you need to be? I have a standard Partridge Rooster and hen I would place with the right person. They are very attractive, healthy and well socialized.Hatched 4/23/07. Let me know, Debbie.

i got my blue standard cochin girls from xtremegamebirds here in texas. the lady there is very sweet and said they hatch year round. even if their website says they are out of what ever you are looking for, call them anyway. she sometimes doesn't get to updating her website because they're so busy. it's a mom and pop operation so don't expect a call back right away, but they'll usually call you back within the day, though.

hope that helps.
