Plaid Present (in the light)

Plaid Present (lit up, in the dark)

These are made by drilling a hole in a glass block (need a special drill bit for glass/ceramic), decopaging fabric (don't use paper, it discolors after use) and adding ribbon & chipboard "bits"; stuffing a 35 light string of lights (50 is too much, unless you buy the ones that stay cool) and ta-da!!

I sell these for $25 and they are always a hit, especially at Baby Showers (I make to match Baby's room decor) and gift exchanges!

Sunny the box got here today, the students are going to be so excited! Although I'm not sure how you can call those left-overs??? LOL and the little hats and booties are just adorable, the kids will have so much fun trying to copy those. I can't thank you enough!

I'm so happy you got it! I consider them leftovers because some of the skeins were bought as part of a big project and I always buy more than I think I'll need (afraid of not being able to find the exact same color if I run short) and don't always get around to returning extras when the project is done.

You've inspired me. I'm going to look in my area and see who can use items like caps, booties etc. A while ago I looked for a chapter in my area that I could join but couldn't find one so now I think I'll just find someone who needs donations and start my own group. Either that or my kids better start giving me a lot more grandchildren! 3 grandkids does not keep me busy enough!

Once a few people heard what we are doing they came up with more places than we can cover. I hadn't even thought of the battered women's shelter, but look how many kids and babies there are in those places! The cancer center, the hospitals, churches that take food and clothing to needy families,, the list just goes on and on.
We got our hooks today so tomorrow at our first official club meeting no one will have to share! Everyone for the first time will have their own yarn and hook to use!

That's awesome! Thanks for the great leads to follow. I really like the idea of helping out the battered women's shelter or low income families with warm hats and blankees. I'm going to start calling around this week to see who else might be interested in helping to make some things! Tell the kids how proud of them we are, here in Reno!
