Every year my family and friends go on a camping trip to northern New Hampshire and we have "yearly" competitions. In the past we have made our own slingshots, catapults, water bottle rockets, and potato guns.

This year we need to make our own bow and arrows, from scratch. I have gathered the wood, string, and arrow tip supplies I need, but am having difficulty gathering large quantities of feathers for the arrow vanes.

I am Looking for donations of large flight wing feathers from large chickens, turkeys, or geese. I will pay shipping costs.

Please pm me if you have any in good condition.

Thank you

bob

I have been collecting feathers, dont know if they would be any good, I can take a pic of them if you like and ship them easily enough. I would say the longest is about 6 inches or so. no cost, I had been collecting them for this kid for the same reason but i think his mom was not happy about it cause he never came to get them.

How wonderful. For the arrows you will want turkey. They work much better than waterfowl feathers. Waterfowl feathers tend to throw the natural made arrow off balance. It has to do with the oil and the quill type. The turkey works wonderful and is large enough to be split down the quill equally giving you maktching opposite sides.

Thanks for the info on the turkey feathers... Cetawin

Ahappychick, do you know what kind the feathers you have are?

Have a month or so till I need them, so it gives me time to find the rite ones, But if it gets down to the wire i will take whatever I can get.

thanks

bob

most are white wing feathers from my roo. he just drops them and if they are not dirty I pick them up. I dont have any turkey ones though but I bet Sands does. they just started a thread on pics of turkeys in the turkey section, I would ask them.
