I am looking to buy two or three hens for my roo. He's an EE so I need standard size hens, preferably ones that are semi-tame. Breed is not really an issue, as they will be PETS ONLY and eggs would be nice, but they don't have to be excellent layers. I am located in SE Iowa and will be willing to drive- as long as it's not much more than an hour or so away. Thanks!

ETA: I do not have a brooder box, so I need them to be old enough to "hold their own"- but not "senior citizens", as I would like to enjoy them for a few years!

I'm in eastern Iowa and I have 2 EE x japanese bantam pullets. Depends if you want large eggs or just want something to get along with your roo. So far they are leaning more towards standard size but will probably be a bit smaller than average standards. I have a standard roo with rather small bantam hens but he does have 6 standard hens and the bantams hang out together seperately. I know he is mating with at least some of the bantams though so it's not like you absolutely have to have all large hens with a standard size roo.
