WANTED IN LOUISIANA: 55 gallon drums

I dont know how safe it would be, but Ive noticed some of the car washes around here selling some. Its what their soaps and cleaners come in. Ive been searching for some to collect rain water, so I passed those up. Dont know if you could use them for feed or not. Also I had a friend that would get his from the school cafeterias. Food was stored in them. I know restaurants use them for storing there oil and whatnot. You might try calling some feed stores to see if they have any or know of a place you could.

Hey, what about using galvanized garbage cans? I can store about 100-125 lbs of feed in mine....

That is a good idea. Do you know about how much they would cost and where would be the cheapest place I could buy them?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Do the galvanized can sweat if being left outside? I would hate for my feed to mold. Please let me know.

No, mine don't........I have 4 cans, 1 for dog food and 3 for the chickens....they are on the carport in the shade of my house which is off the ground so that may keep them from heating/cooling....and my feed rotates over the course of a month if I'm conservative. The only time I've ever had any mold problems was when "someone" put a wet bucket back in the feed can after a rain.....Also rodents can't get in them.....it has been my best solution so far...

Great news!!! I will check at Lowe's. I have a coupon, so this is good. It's also a tax free weekend this weekend, so this would be a good buying weekend.
