You guys are TOO funny! I can't believe any of you would think these are ugly; but, wait a minute, I have only seen PICTURES of them in a poultry book, and I was thinking that they are beautiful! You mean that they are not??!!

Well, I still want some; guess I'll have to learn my lesson the hard way!

well i dont think she's exactly ugly... she's interesting looking. and very very small.

we just keep laughing that even if we ...ahem..that is..er... 'dressed her for dinner' it just wouldnt even be worth the effort! i've kinda wondered about such a small hen and normal sized eggs.. but she does it.

we like our buff orps - they are kinda like cows - big and vacant and get the job done. these campines are kinda like show horses - skittish, lively, long legged, and kinda ridiculous. i think if you like fancy poultry you'd love them - and honestly they are good layers.

for my money the buckeyes are a great heritage breed that we are trying. but our old stand by are RIR's and barred rocks.

if you get a wild hair - come on up!

Well, that's kinda why I wanted to give it a go with those golden campines; they are on the critical list as far as conservation goes and everything I have read indicates that they are very good layers of medium sized white eggs. I have other small breeds, several bantam breeds that are for the most part rather sweet and timid, yet friendly. Guess these campines are none of the above?

No, I don't think I'll be up to Ohio anytime soon, but I thank you anyway!

some people say they are really 'chatty' which is one way to describe it. really if you have other banties you wont be too surprised.

and yeah - we keep laughing at the 'responsibility' of having heritage breeds! we wont 'do' anything b/c of the crushing guilt we'd have about decimating the population!! hee hee hee

so she stays. crazy hen.

My Roo is i guess a pretty bird my husband thinks he is but I cant stand him Its like he screams when he crows maybe hes not that good yet but he just gets on my nerves and he looks small almost like a game bird but when I look in the magazines he looks just like the ones they have in there. I guess its all in the eyes of the beholder. Ha And I can totally understand dressing him out he dont look like there would be much to him and I wonder if there would even be any legs at all ha ha ha I have asked my husband to dress him out several time but he will not he must be attached but I would love for you to have him. Just cuz us Ohio chicken farmers have to stick together, I'll throw in a pair of young GCs (pullet and cockerel). I'm near Dayton which is on your way to Springfield to pick up Ohiofarmgirl's bird.

i had to boot that crazy hen out of the garage AGAIN this morning.. man she is a loon!

the little roosters we had were ever more nuts. when they ran they STOMPED their little feet and it was so annoying!!
