Hello All: I had six eggs under my broody and she ATE most of them, crushed one, and one was infertile - BUT I had ONE hatch. She's in danger if I leave her with her mother and the local stores don't have chicks. I need a couple of babies to keep my single company, but am having a really hard time finding some. Do you all have any ideas? I am in the Lawrence, KS area. See my single peep below...

If this is in the wrong place or inappropriate for any reason, feel free to take this down.

If anyone can help, I welcome it.

Thank you,
Melissa

I would suggest checking hatcheries online. I've heard good things about both Meyer and Murray McMurray hatcheries, and have had personal experience with Lancaster Fancy Fowl.

I've checked and mostly their minimums are more than I need. Good suggestion.

Okay, I've done some leg work and found someone here in town. It's through CL, so cross your fingers I don't get murdered.

I've gotten things from Craigslist before but never chickens. I know there's been some crazy horror stories, but I've only ever had good experiences. There shouldn't be anything for you to worry about :)

I've done through craigslist, always bring a friend. I did get my chick though :) you can ask to meet in a public place.

If this doesn't work out, PM me and I'll give you a name and number of an NPIP certified operation in Onaga, KS. She has a great line of Blue Orp's. As well as EE's and plenty of bantams.
