These are domestic, not wild.
Rabbits have thick coats that keep them warm in the cold but they can get very overheated in the summer, especially here. Also, predators could easily attack them or even scare them to death..
They just generally dont do good outside.
With pet rabbits if they are outside all their lives the owners won't get to bond with their rabbits. That defeats the purpose of having a pet rabbit.

I was hoping if they were inside I could build a much better setup protected from weather and also show how pet rabbits should be cared for.

The last house I lived in, there were feral rabbits (outside of Custer, SD). After a while I got tired of them eating my plants. We ate them... (the rabbits, I mean). They were kind of gamey. They seemed to be doing okay up until then, though.

Of course they're not the same as cottontails or other US native wild rabbits. I'm pretty sure they can't even interbreed with one another.

I know I know. I am rather tight when it comes to technology. I can't even bring myself to spend 400 for a phone.

The off brands are crap. Buy from Amazon, because you'll most likely be sending it back.
