Hi. I recently had a bad hatch. Of 13 eggs only one baby made it. The others never pipped. So now I have a 3 day old lone chick. While it LOVES me and it's totally content hanging out with me, I do work thru the day. I would really like to give this chick a friend. I live in West Virginia in Fairmont, near Morgantown or Clarksburg. If you live close and have a chick or chicks of ANY breed that you are willing to part with please let me know. The chick I have is an EE crossed with Old English black Orpington. I have many breeds of chickens and really don't mind which breed, or even if it's a barnyard mix. Just some company for my sweet little one. It will have a fabulous home! Just let me know where you are and your asking price. Thank you in advance if you can help!

I had the same problem out of 16 shipped eggs one hatched. My solution......i gave him a mirror. Since my silkie hen with two chicks didnt want him. Hope you find one. :)

Thank you. Think I will try that. I raised a single chick once before...still am actually. LOL It's now 11 weeks old and nearly ready to join the flock, but still a bit cold to throw him into after being in the house a lot of the time. Guess this one will just think I'm mama forever just like Rocky the Rhode bar rooster does...LOL

Oh no!! LOL I have large fowl and bantam chickens. My first hatchling was from my broody. It was a homegrown Rhode Bar from our chickens. This one is from another breeder. It's an Old English blue Orpington crossed with Easter Egger. He's too cute! The Rhode bar has turned into a very handsome roo, but I just worry that neither will be accepted into the flock well because they have been raised in the house.
