My backyard goose has flown away last week and I'm not feeling too good about it.:( I knew it would eventually happen but didn't think it would be this soon. She was a newly hatched Canadian that we found left for dead in the freezing cold just 6 months ago. We thawed her out and she's been thriving ever since so much so that she flew the coop just last Monday! I just wish I knew where she was and that she was ok, I'm sure she's ok but it's not like when you see her each day. Hope this feeling doesn't last long.....:hit:hit:hit

So with her absence I have been able to show a lot more attention to my beautiful ducks, so much so that I'm now looking for another mature female girlfriend for my one female and 2 males. I don't know where else to check and I DO NOT use craigslist at all, personal choice. So if anyone knows where I can get another female pekin duck please let me know, I would love to have another to balance my flock and hand feed peas and watermelon daily!:D Oh.... I'm located between Brunswick Ga. & Jacksonville Florida! Near the state line...

Where are you located?

I got my ducklings from Tractor Supply, they said they get it from local suppliers so you may have to call around and see who has Pekins and then ask for the suppliers contact info to see if they have any mature ones for sale. Just a thought! I have also seen ducks for sale in the newspaper.

Thanks CarleeAnn, I didn't even think about checking the newspaper....guess I'm so used to all the internet technologies!:)

With two mature drakes you're going to want to get at LEAST 5 more female duck or just two and get rid of one drake. 2 drakes is wayy too much for just two hens and problems such as over-breeding can happen were your drakes will try to breed your duck so much she'll eventually loss most feather on her wings and neck. I've made this mistake the first time I raised ducks. got 6 from tractor supply and 5 turned out to be drakes. We got rid of 3 thinking that was enough but our poor girl was harassed to the point she couldn't walk. So sorry if this comes out rude but i'm giving trying to prevent things like this from happening.

I agree. I have 1 drake and 3 girls but it still doesn't seem to be enough

Well I would never get rid of one of the males now, they grew up together and I don't think one would survive without the other, so I guess I'll have to take a chance on getting atleast 3 more girls. Hope the neighbors love my pekins as much as I do!!!
Thanks for the information, I never knew.
