Wanting some Buff Orpington chicks

So, for the past few days I have been looking mypetchicken.com. I am really wanting to get some Buff Orpington chicks, very badly. I am not sure how my DH will take this. We already have 9 chicks and some turkey eggs in the incubator. My neighbor has a Orpington and I think she is the cutest thing and has such a personality. Not, that I don't love my flock but I think they would be a great addition. How many is too many chickens? We have enough room for them but I can't think of a good reason except that I have read that it's good to have a baby chick with baby poults to help show them where the food is etc. I don't even know if I am asking a question other than, are your Orpington hens/roos as friendly as they say?

Yeah, I'm worried about my DH was going to say if I purchased some chicks. he just put a bid for some eggs.... nvm. hah!

Mine are. Many of my girls are lap chickens. They all eat out of my hands. I think a lot has to do with how they are raised as well though. So spend a lot of time with them as they grow and handle them and you should get nice birds.

I have had Orpingtons since I started. They are wonderful birds and great layers. Had a problem hen though, tryed to break her broody by pulling her off her nest. She did not like this and would attack my feet. This all happened after her roo was attacked and lost. Have another roo named Buddy. First roo was also Buddy so this is Buddy#2. He is by himself for now but I plan on breading him with a couple Orpington hens. He decided one day to flog the side of my leg, bad idea. He recieved my cowboy boot and later got the tips of his spurs cut off. They are growing back now but he seems to understand whos boss. Very quiet chickens, friendly, and very nice looking. Always a great addition to a flock. I will always have some.

One of my chicks is a Buff Orp

She is soooo sweet,when I pick her up shes nice and quiet and doesnt really move and also likes to fly up onto my shoulder

and will eat right out of my hand and she has such beautiful feathers <3
Buff Orps are a good choice for sure

I raised a batch of 25 that I got from Ideal...not a problem with any of them. It was a straight run order so I got 14 hens...most were good layers and even the roos were tame. Would definitely recommend them.
