Wanting to get ducks...

I'm wanting to put a small pond in my front yard, Will the Ducks fly south for the winter, or do I do something to keep them here?

You could always get domestic breeds of ducks, such as pekins, runners, cayugas, swedish, or maybe some muscovies. Most of those breeds won't fly, although the muscovie is an exception. As far as I hear ducks fair much better in the cold than chickens do...maybe all they will need is a predator proof pen or coop. If fed well I'm sure they won't leave. Really depends on what breed you get and if you hand raise them. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in.
