Does anyone know the ordinance for backyard chickens in Desoto, TX? We can't even have garage sales in our area.
You can have a Garage sale. You need a permit first. But you don't need a permit for chickens - go figure!

You can have backyard chickens in DeSoto, TX (yes, I live here and have Ducks on 1 acre)

There are rules:
A person commits an offense if the person possesses or harbors more than one (1) rooster for every two (2) hens on any premises in the city. Typical Republicans regulating a man's fun (just joking)

There are limits on how many you can harbor based on your property size - if you have 1/2 an Acre, you're in great shape.

There are also regulations on how far away they must be from residential dwellings, which makes sense.

There are also property line offsets, which make no sense. If you have 20 chickens, is there a 20-foot offset from the property line?

Honestly, just be smart about it, and you won't have any issues. If you have an HOA, it was fullish even to consider living there in the first place, let alone want chickens.
