Hi all!

So, I am planning on getting some goats, and fencing in a 3/4 of an acre for them. I planning on joining it with my chicken run, so I can have lots more chickens. But, how high would the fencing have to be in order to keep them contained? What’s my best fencing options? Is this a good idea, or not? Anything else o should know?

Thank you I’m advance for any help!

Goats are good with 4 foot. Chickens can find their way out of about anything without a top on it. My fencing is 7ft some have no issues getting over it. I have red brand goat wire.

I do have my goats and chickens in same area using a common fence. I put the fenced in coop on back side of goats. I have a gate I can choose to leave open if I want to or close to keep them apart. Typically I will lock goats up in evening and let the chickens free range the goat pasture a couple hours. I did have a little Nigerian sneak through the gate once…. It was a poop filled mess. Just something for you to think about.

Thank you! Wow, I’m surprised! Would keeping their wings clipped help?

I'm not sure this is a good idea, either feed is bad for the other animal.
Thank you for comment! Oh yes, I do understand that. I will insure they can’t get into one another’s feed. I have heard of lots of people who keep their chickens and goats together, with certain feeders, and do well, so I was thinking of trying it.
