Thanks for looking, i am 20 and want to show my birds at the local fair and was wondering if i had to be in 4-h or FFA to do so and if there is like an age limit. I am in florida, lee county. thanks chad

i will definitely look into it, just looking for comments on what they look for, how much to enter, what to win ya know stuff like that thnks.

What fair is it? I think each fair has their own rules and way of doing things. I'll bet if you look up your fair on Google you can find a website with all the info you need (how to enter, etc). My local fair has an online "premium book" with all that stuff in it.

P.S.

Judges will look for the bird that is as close to the "Standard of Perfection" guidelines for it's breed and variety as possible. So if you don't already have one, I would suggest purchasing a copy of the Standard if you plan to show.

HI, 4-h begins and age 5 and stops at age 19 and you have to be in school for FFA so the adult division would be the one you would go for. Good luck and have fun!

I believe the age limit for 4H is 18, I'm not sure about FFA. Usually an adult can show in open at a fair. Regarding what a judge would be looking for, I'd suggest picking up a standard of perfection.

You need to band your birds and blood test them before you can enter in a show,,,,,it should be easy to find someone if you have a chicken club locally, or even a 4H mom (some of them) can do it if they are certified to

could i band my own birds or does it have to be done professionally. i heard you can order bands online, ie color, size, number, and do it yourself???

At all the fairs around here you have to be under 18 to show. Thank god my "poultry partner" is Alyssa, she's still 15 (I'm 19) So at fairs and junior shows we show under her name. If you have a younger friend or a younger sibling you could always show under their name and just bring them when you check in

Lots of adults do that so that they can show at the Junior Shows, haha!
