No one's missing that, because it's simply not the case. Sometimes you can do everything right, and still lose. Even if everything wasn't done right, since when is human fallibility considered something that makes you at fault? If someone breaks into your house and steals your things, it's not your fault, it's theirs.
Yes. But we’re talking about animals that are acting on instinct, not greedy humans. So that doesn’t really apply.
Honestly, using your argument, anyone that buys and houses chickens are responsible for their death should anything get past the coop's defenses. Hope it doesn't happen to you, broheim.
Yup. If you buy chickens, throw them in a cheap coop, or even a good one, and an animal eats them, it is your fault, because you are responsible for their lives. I’m not saying it makes you a bad person. But you could have done better.

No, they were most likely deleted by mods. You have no right to drown them even though they are hurting your birds. It’s a very cruel thing to do to any animal. Chop their head off or shoot them. It’s a much better death.
I do also believe that drowning animals is considered a crime.
What would you do if you had to do it yourself? It's illegal in many parts of the world to shoot in your backyard anything other than an air gun, plus chopping their head off is not often an easy method of killing for most.
Drowning is the way I do it now that I have no old cars to gas with.
Each to their own. Killing 1 rodent inhumanely is better than a rodent killing or half killing a flock of pets.

Here’s a solution! Or two.
Don‘t kill them. Shape up your coop.
Relocate them.
Find some other humane way to do it.

I do agree with starting with predator proofing your coop. Though relocating isn’t always the best solution. It just makes them someone else’s problem, and for the ferrets specifically they are an invasive species.

It's illegal to move any 'unwanted organism' in New Zealand without first applying for permission (which takes up to a month to be granted) so moving these animals elsewhere is not possible.

Guns are not common here and require a license.

Wild ferrets are nasty things and can carry diseases. It would be a very silly individual who tried to wrangle one of those out of a live capture trap, and in areas where there is the potential to catch non target species in traps it's a good idea to use live capture traps to prevent you killing something you shouldn't.
