I don't know how guinea function but my chickens simply fly away if a predator gets near them as they tree roostYes coons live in the trees so. I see them in the daytime, mostly young ones. I kill a lot of coons and will reinforce coop today. I have two guinea chicks, Lord knows how long they will last once they start roosting in the trees.
is LGD a livestock guardian dog?I don't know how guinea function but my chickens simply fly away if a predator gets near them as they tree roost
My first year with chickens I had around half a dozen attacks at night, which resulted in a screaming chicken flying off into the darkness and a surprised looking racoon left behind. It's a great system for eliminating predators
No raccoons since getting an LGD though
This is a smart and persistent coon I am dealing with. It's coming thru the roof now since I've reinforced everywhere else I can think of. I'm down to 4 chickens. Cried a little this morning because I'm at wits end. So, tonite chickens will go to the smaller coop, I call it the Chinese Chicken Coop. I've eliminated a lot of coons so this one is really outsmarting me. I will win, it's personal now. That time of year to battle the coons. I've lost 3 chickens so far but luckily no layers. They are getting into the coop so I get to spend the day reinforcing every little crack or hole. I hate coons.
