Warm Oatmeal for Cold Chickens

My Friend the other night fed her 6 Hens a warm mash of feed and scratch grains..-32C here that night. Birds gobbled it down and when she checked on them in the morning their Crops were hard and frozen..She quickly brought all the Birds into the house to thaw their crops.
She swears up and down they froze their crops..

Yes...She was so upset when she text me a 6:00am yesterday morning..Only took an hour to thaw them.. She gave them warm water to drink..Everyone is back outside and eating dry Chicken feed...

Um, just being a smarty mouth because it's the first day of a New Year and the only day I really get by with it, but why would she want to "unthaw" them? Didn't she bring them in because they were already "unthawed"? (da dum dump)
