Thank you all again for your fantastic advice!! I currently am feeding 16% but I will look for a higher percent! Very interesting about the feather eating, i honestly never knew that, could explain why they are attacking the eggs as well. I figured they were lacking something but I couldnt put my finger on it. I have bern giving them a mixture of layer, scratch, cracked corn, and oyster shells. Unfortunately where I live we get attacked on all sides by the wind. My husband built their coop with a safety pen all around the outside, the coop has three working windows and secured every nook and cranny. Last year we lost all our ducks but one due to preditors so we were not taking any chances with our new flocks. During the spring/summer andd fall they are free range but lockef in every night. Please patrdon my typos, I am using my finger tapping skills on my kindle
I currently do not have any neosporin in the house but I due have an AD ointment for burns, diaper rash, would that be safe to give her? Also shoukd I feed her something with a bit more "get up"? She is happily roosting on the side of the large tote I have provided for her. One more thing, I crochet and I havre seen these chicken sweaters, which normally I wouldnt consider, but thinking maybe the light covering will help to keep the area clean. What are your thoughts?
