"Come back with me; I'll tell you on the way," she said, "it's not safe out here alone, especially for kits. I was badly injured by dogs not too long ago," she explained.

"Okay!" Bristlekit said.
"Wait." Sandkit said, "Go with you where?" Sandkit asked.

"It's momma!! She got taken by twolegs!!!!!" Lionkit screeched, his fur standing up. Dustkit looked small and terrified. "We gotta get her back!" he yowled. 

Ebonykit looked up weakly. "Daddy?"

Troutfur smiled in relief, and licked the top of her head. "You alright?" he asked. 

She coughed a bit more. "Yeah."

Troutfur nodded, "Good." he said, but his smile vanished. "What were you doing?" he asked. 

"Okay then. Get back to camp," Smokewhisker growled. He never told anyone this, but he resented Specklefur and her kits as he had at one time loved her; though he did his best not to, he was viewed as very unfriendly to the kits.


"We were coming to see you," Ebonykit said, "Mama was too sick to come."

"You have to get her back!! Please!" Lionkit mewled in panic, jumping up and putting his front paws onto Smokewhisker's shoulder. Dustkit stood back, but tiny tears were in his eyes.


"Sick?!" Trout fur jumped up. He knew there was a bout of white and green cough going around. "She's in the medicin den, right?" He asked.

"I will!" Smokewhisker snapped, stepping away from Lionkit almost disgustedly.

"No," Ebonykit said, "she's still in the nursery."

Lionkit sniffed and ran back to camp, Dustkit on his heels.

Troutfur groaned. "Make sure she gets better. Ah, meet me here tomorrow. Don't let anyone see you. Pretend that you are escaping Shadowclan." He said, smiling hopefully.

He was kicked out of ThunderClan because he tried to kill the Deputy. Sometimes he wonders where he would be if his family wouldn't have been murdered.
