Quote: "Oh really?" Eaglepelt snapped. "Are you
scared?"
Lionpaw froze.
If she thinks I'm scared, they won't think I'm any good, so I won't become the strongest warrior!! He thought, and quickly changed his demeanor. He let his tail fluff out, and raised it high in the air. "No." he snapped. His stunning amber eyes were fixed on Eaglepelt intensely.
"Good. That's what I want to hear." Eaglepelt's fur flattened a bit. She looked strikingly similar to Maplestar. "Now, remember. If you choose to be trained here, I will be your mentor. We are kin, Lionpaw. But that is not important, and if you think I'll go easy on you because of that, you are very wrong." she warned.
Lionpaw's eyes flickered with excitement. But he hesitated. "What about Dawnpaw?" he asked.
"Featherpelt will be teaching her." Eaglepelt flicked her tail dismissively. "Sometimes you'll train with her. But, for the most part, you'll only see me here."
"Uhhhh....." Lionpaw held his confident stance. "I'm going to need to talk to her first." he said. "Tomorrow. I will have my answer."
"No, not tomorrow. I still want you to think about it over these next two moons." Eaglepelt said, "I only came tonight to explain a bit more to you, so that your answer would be clearer. Know what you're getting yourself into, Lionpaw. Once you do this, there is
no backing out." Her voice dropped to a hiss. "You'll be coming here for the rest of your life. I want you to make sure this is what you really want."
Excitement flooded through Lionpaw's veins. "Like I said, I need to talk to Dawnpaw." he nodded.
"Very well." Right after Eaglepelt said that, she began to fade. "Alright, you're waking up. I'll see you soon."
A little while later Lionpaw opened his eyes. He blinked in the golden morning light.
"Let's go," Smokewhisker growled to Shadowpaw. Shadowpaw slunk out.
Specklefur gave Smokewhisker a hard look as she left camp. Specklefur didn't want to be an overprotective mother, but she wasn't sure if Smokewhisker was the right choice as a mentor for Shadowpaw. Shadowpaw, as a kit, would sulk and beat herself up for hours when Specklefur got after her.
Lionpaw shivered in his nest. He wasn't cold, he just felt like someone was watching him. After a minute or two, he stretched and padded from his den. Patchpaw walked by with yet another mouthful of moss. "Hiya Lionpaw!" he greeted him with a muffled voice. "Hi!" Lionpaw replied, with very little excitement in his voice. As they padded away from each other, Lionpaw got to thinking.
I wonder why he hasn't been out training? Is Sagestar punishing him for being a kitty-pet? Or is she just.... stalling? He shrugged and went to the fresh-kill pile.
Dawnpaw hastily finished up her mouse when she saw Patchpaw come in. She hurriedly buried the bones and trotted over. "Hey Patchpaw! Want some help?" she asked cheerfully. Her tail waved happily as she purred.
Specklefur watched her daughter for a second, then padded away on a patrol with a purr.
Young love, she thought. (

XD)
(Oo! LOL! XD)
Patchpaw looked over and smiled. "Sure!" he purred, and waited for her to pad beside him. He was a good deal taller than her, since he was already quite tall but was also older than Dawnpaw. "Do you
want to help?" he asked then laughed.
"Yeah," she purred, "I've been doing battle moves for a while. I mean know battle moves are fun and all, but I like doing something different every now and then. And so I saw you doing this, and I thought I'd help!"
"Nice!" Patchpaw meowed, and padded for the elder den. "Practicing battle moves sounds like fun." he said wistfully, and twitched his tail.
