Cloverwhisker turned to her apprentice, Honeypaw, who had crowded around when she heard the uproar. "Go get some moss for Silverstream in the nursery," she ordered her apprentice.

"But-" Honeypaw tried to protest.

"Now!" Cloverwhisker snapped. Honeypaw hurried off.

"Do you think you can make it to the nursery?" Frostcloud asked Silverstream gently.

Silverstream didn't reply for a moment, then after a pause, nodded slowly. "Yes. I think so." She whimpered, trying to stand. She picked up one of her kits, and Troutfur scooped up one as well. He hurried to support Silverstream, standing next to her. "Ready?" He asked. She nodded, and began walking.

Frostcloud picked up the last kit, and padded into the nursery. Honeypaw was in one corner making the nest, while Cloudbreeze and her kits who had been born during the night rested soundly.

Silverstream limped in, looking around. Her heart sank. She really hadn't wanted to become confined to the nursery, but what could she do? She had kits to care for now. Sighing, she limped toward the nest. "Thank you Honeypaw." She rasped.

Honeypaw, having not wanted to make a nest, just gave a curt nod as she padded out. The noise awoke Hailkit, "can we play with the new ones?!" He yowled.

"Hailkit!" Cloudbreeze snapped. She looked at Silverstream, "I'm sorry."

Silverpaw's eyes blinked open, and she looked around. She found herself in a grassy clearing, with tall, green trees in the distance. Warm sunlight beamed down from the sky, warming her as a gentle breeze ruffled her fur. Where am I? She thought; it took a minute for her to realize that she was dreaming. She whirled around as she heard pawsteps behind her, and what she saw made her dizzy. "Kestrelflight!" She cried, running over to her father. His pelt glowed a strange light, and his eyes shone like the stars. "I missed you!" She brushed up against his fur, purring loudly.

"Hi, Silverpaw," a small voice mewed behind Kestrelflight.

"Ebonykit?" Silverpaw's jaw dropped as she saw the small gray tabby kit pad to her father's side. Ebonykit was her sister, who had been sick from birth and had died. But now, she looked stronger than ever, and her eyes shone just like her father, Kestrelflight's.

Kestrelflight's warm expression suddenly turned somber. "Bloodshed is to come, Silverpaw," he meowed grimly. "You must be ready."

"What?" Silverpaw breathed in disbelief. But fog began to build between her father and Ebonykit, and she struggled to reach them. "Wait! Don't go!"

"Why?" She heard her brother Stormpaw's puzzled voice, and she awoke. "I'm on the dawn patrol."

"Oh. Sorry," Silverpaw mewed. She blinked as she remembered her father's ominous words, bloodshed is to come.... bloodshed is to come...

Silverstream smiled, sinking into the nest. "Soon.." She murmured, placing her kitten beside her belly. Troutfur placed the second next to her as well. "If you need anything, just call me. K?" He said gently, giving her a look only she could understand. Nodding slowly, Silverstream placed her head on her paws.

Shadowplet peeked in the apprentice den. "Rise and shine sleepy-head!" He chirped.

Silverpaw lifted her head, and trotted out. She looked around carefully, as if expecting a cat to jump out at her at any second.
