"Sorry..." Smokekit mewed quietly.

"I knew this was a mousebrained idea," Littlekit hissed to his sisters.

Silverpaw was hesitant to speak; then she figured, if you couldn't trust you mentor, you couldn't trust anyone. "Kestrelflight and my sister Ebonykit visited me last night," she confessed. "They told me that bloodshed was to come."

Hailkit ran off with an arch in his tail. (I love it when cats do that XD)
"It's alright, but, I bet your mother is worried about you." Sagestar said gently.

Shadowpelt stared at her for a moment, unable to speak. Finally, he regained his voice, "Bloodshed? Did they say anything more?" His eyes were large with concern.

Troutfur watched him, then turned to Cloudbreeze. "Want me to take him, and, I don't know, occupy him?" His body language was jerky, as if he had plans to do something else.

"But I like it in here!" Smokekit protested.

"Mousebrain," Littlekit growled at her sister as he herded them out.

Silverpaw winced as Kestrelflight's words rang in her ears again. Bloodshed is to come, Silverpaw. You must be ready, or one of four will vanish. "They just said that we had to be ready, or that one of four would vanish."

"It's alright," Cloudbreeze meowed to Troutfur, before heading back into the nursery. "Hailkit! Nightkit!" She snapped. Hailkit sat down immediately. "Look at the mess you've made! You're driving Silverstream nuts. Now sit down and be quiet while I remake your nest!" Hailkit and Nightkit sat by each other quickly, not making a sound. They seemed to have changed into two entirely different kits at Cloudbreeze's scolding.

(Gaaahhh.... humidity, stop being so difficult!!!)

Quote: Sagestar chuckled, and watched them go out. She missed her own kits, but never again would she have her own, while she was leader. Heaving a heavy sorrowful sigh, she sat down in her den.

"One of four?" Shadowpelt's eyes were huge. He sat down, staring at the ground as if that would give him inspiration. "Silverpaw. Did they tell you what it meant?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the ground.

Troutfur smiled, nodding slightly. Silverstream watched in awe, then glanced back down at her own kits. Troutfur touched her lightly with his paw. "We need to talk." He hissed so Cloudbreeze couldn't hear. Silverstream's eyes fell; she had wanted to keep this a secret. She opened her mouth to speak, but Troutfur's voice sounded before her own. "Cloudbreeze," he began, dipping his head. "I know you are busy, but possibly, could you watch the kits?" He gestured with his tail to Ashkit, Rainkit, and Shadowkit. "Silverstream would like to stretch her legs."

"Of course," Cloudbreeze meowed.

"Oh," Shadowpelt mumbled, his ears twitching as he thought. "Silverpaw," He finally began after a pause, "You need to let Stripestar know. We need to prepare, like Kestrelflight said."

"Thank you." Silverstream said warmly, though she wasn't smiling. She rose, tucked the kits together, and started for the exit. "Thank you Cloudbreeze." She dipped her head and padded out.
Troutfur nodded, and headed toward the camp exit. Silverstream followed behind him.

They walked in silence until they reached the far edge of Riverclan territory. Once there, Troutfur broke the silence.

"Who is the father?" He asked nonchalantly.

"Why is it important?" Silverstream hissed, her ears falling back.

"Because. You don't have a mate." Troutfur snarled. "Silverstream, I love you." He hissed, his eyes narrowed. "If you don't tell me who the father is, you'll be in trouble!" His hackles were bristled in anger.

Silverstream's eyes grew large, "I c-can't!" She whimpered, tears gathering at her eyes.
