Dawn did not want to kill the she-cat, but she knew that she would sacrifice herself if she didn't. Biting down ever harder, she waited for the body to go still. She closed her eyes, not wanting to meet the dying creature's frightened gaze.Night let out a screech, before it died down into a raspy gurgle and wheeze.

Dawn bit down harder and finally let go, figuring the cat was on the verge of dying. She refused to look at it, hating having to kill it.
