Warts on face?

My 2y/o Columbian Wyandotte has what looks like warts on her face. They are on her cheek. I looked under emergencies and such, but didn't find an answer. Any ideas? I didn't notice this a couple days ago.

I haven't often seen it in older birds, but is it possible she has pox? here from the lovely Backyardchickens.com site is a great picture and article about it:

Also, in your area, do you have biting flies that might be causing whelps? Or are the 'warts' more crusty and wart-like in appearance? Also check all over her very carefully for parasites, especially along the shafts of the feathers and the skin. Also check for unusual scaliness on her legs. Rule out parasitic irritation that might be making her kick her head and cause scabs. Taking 15 minutes to sit in a lawn chair and observe her helps tremendously in this case. When we walk out to the coops, our chickens often behave differently than they do without us because they know we're their gravy train!

So give her a chance to relax and do what she normally does.

I'm putting my money, tentatively, on fowlpox.

In any case, something's going on so make sure her food and water are at their premium right now and watch for signs of stress or anything unusual and let us know what you see.

Pics would be very helpful here. Could be fowl pox, which causes wart like bumps on the face, comb and wattles.

Thanks threehorses and speckledhen. I looked up the website, and my daughter said it sort of looks like them. She's 12, so she is the one who noticed it on "Jane". I was upset, because I've never seen this before. Doesn't seem to be hurting her in any way. It mentioned mosquitos being the carrier of the fowl pox, which would make a lot of sense, because we live in S. Florida. Just so scary when you find something like this, huh? I'll let you know if anything else shows up, lets hope not, right? Thanks you two, again.

Definitely let's hope not. I'd have her check out Jane to make sure it ends up being the dry pox, not the wet. In any case, I'd boost her nutrition and just watch her for any signs of stress.

Thanks, me too! I am always giving my girls treats, like yogurt, oatmeal with cinnamon in it, greens, plain cheerios, parsley, etc., I think you get the picture?

It doesn't look to be draining or anything, just kinda big. You know, like a muscovie duck, sort of?? How come I didn't notice it before, I wonder? Thank God for my daughter, right?
