Warts on feet

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has had a chicken get ingrown warts on thier feet? I had a hen with a swollen foot and underneath it looked like a puncture vine had gotten stuck in her foot but when I picked at it a scablike thing came out with a whole root. It grew right back, then one appeared on her other foot and she began to limp. I should have taken pics.

Could it have possibly been scaly mites? Here is a link to another thread here on byc with pictures of bad scaly mite. It can be cured.

Edited to say: I have read several times where people have referred to this as warts but it is not.

No, wasn't like that but thanx! It was just one spot on the bottom of each foot that looked like a dark colored scab, wasn't scaly thankfully. Good to know what to do if I end up with that sometime though!

Maybe bumblefoot since you mentioned a black scab on the bottom of the foot. I really don't know without seeing it but just trying to help.

Oh awesome! So glad I could help. I hope your bird recovers okay. If you look at the top and go to search and use keywords bumble foot there are lots of very informative posts in there on it.
