I don’t know what is going on with my girls but we have 32 chickens (20 laying at the moment) and about 2-4 of my girls are laying eggs with these warts on them. I know that typically they are fine to eat and are just unsightly but when we crack them pen they have little grains inside the egg as well. Has anyone come across this or know how to remedy it? It’s only my brown eggs but I don’t know know who’s doing it!

The outside "warts" are simply calcium clumps on the eggs from either undigested oyster shell or a slowing calcium gland. If the shells are also thin, it may be indication of insufficient calcium.

The "grains" in the yolk look like meat spots. You get those at times.

Keep a watch on their production. It can mean the end of a laying cycle or aging hens or insufficient feed nutrients.

I'll link a good article on egg quality.

My thoughts.

I am feeding them Purina 16% layer pellets as well as some fruit and veggie scraps. Is there a way I can fix this? I also offer oyster shell in a separate pan and give them meal worms a couple times/week
