Was getting more eggs... now not so much?

My 80 + yr old aunt told me to feed crushed red peppers when I was having that problem 2-3 wks ago. Dramatic improvement. I also increased the amount of green leafy veggies and weeds they get. 2 of the 3 are laying very well, one has never laid and I am begining to think chicken and dumplings every time I look at her. Chickens love red peppers and I have never noted any ill effect.
