Okay so i am looking around on here on the quail forum, I got a good idea for building a pen big enough for them....I have them in a large tubberware tub like i use for a brooder for chicks, with a light on them since its kinda cool here the past few days, but a top opening syster is a no go, they fly out almost everytime i open it, and i am waiting for my daughter to sneak in there and open it and one of my cats to have a tasty treat like they did when the finch cage got knocked over last year X_x

OKAY so questions!!! since i think i may be keeping these things (i have been trying to sell/give them away to someone around here but no success yet... -sigh- so i have a new group of critters )

WELL. I think I know what they all are color wise, 2 whites, 2 caramels, and a black one? (didn't see a name for that color - )lol

#1 - How do I tell what they are? Lady who i got them from only way to tell is when they start laying in another 2 or 2.5 weeks and by the noises they make....and i see that these things CROW!?! OMG. this is funky sounding, i'm curious but scared to hear what these things sound like.

#2 - Are they broody?
I seen pics of 'surrogate' mothers, does this insinuate broodiness or just motheriness once they are hatched?

#3 - If i decide to keep these guys and may decide to incubate eggs, what is the temp for the eggs and humidity level?
I'll still look around on here, but I've been at it an hour on search engines and here and can't find the answers. X_x

Thanks for the help in advance.

Congrads on your buttons , They are super kool to watch and listen to.

They can hatch their own eggs but like a lil house in the botton of their pen so they have their privacy.

I incubate my buttons at 99.8 in a forced air incubator with 55% humidity. Stop turning eggs and place in hatcher at day 13 , should hatch out on day 16

Hope you enjoy your buttons ! We have some in the bator right now that is due to hatch on June 3
