Was I wrong and hubby right???

Ok this morning my nasty duck got hold of one of the chickens again ( before the duck yard was ready -he is in his own yard now ) anyway - Frodo the pervert got hold of my BO hen and before I could get to them my little banty roo Clyde was chasing after Frodo making this high pitched sound acting like he wanted to beat Frodo's butt - so after getting Frodo to let Peaches go I held Frodo pinned down for a minute to calm him and Clyde came over kinda circleing Frodo so I let Clyde flog the duck ( not near his head but on his back and butt) well I held Frodo another minute and making sure he was alright let him go- went back to working on duck yard and heard Frodo going back after the BO but this time Clyde was jumping on Frodo's back trying to defind his woman ( of course Frodo was not paying him no mind since Clyde is just a little guy) so once again I went over to break things up.
Before I let Clyde flog Frodo he never tried protecting any of his girls before - Do you think I showed him how?? hubby thinks I was wrong in letting Clyde flog Frodo but I thought I would let Frodo know that Clyde is the boss of the chickens I know Clyde will never be big enough to defeat Frodo but at least the little guy is trying.
Everyone is in thier own yards now and calm has been restored to the yard, but since the duck yard is smaller I thought I would let the ducks out every once in awhile only while I am out there to watch.
My question is who was right me or hubby?

I think Chickens will be chickens and ducks will be ducks and nothing you did is positively or negatively affecting their current behavior.

Now Frodo sees you as a big bully that will hold him while you let the little guy beat up on him.

And when you not around to protect the little guy will get his.

Well I dont want anyone to think I am being mean and unfair to frodo - we have had him since he was a day old and we do love our little pervert duck LOL even if he is a handful right now - I have made him his own yard so he and his mate Ebony and his buddy Afflac can all be together in there. This weekend we are building them a house of thier own so they can be safe and cozy for winter.
I just want everyone to know that I made sure he was not hurt when Clyde flogged him and I held him in my arms for a bit to let him know he is still loved.
I went out there a few minutes ago and opened the duck run so they could come out and spend time with the flock and Frodo is on his best behavior ( right now ) but as soon as he starts acting up back in his own yard he will go.
I know that first post makes it sound like I was abusing him but that was not the case we do not hit our animals and they all get plenty of love and treats and the best care anyone can give them.

I am no expert but most animals have a pecking order and you have to show you are in-charge at all times. I don't agree with abusing animals but from your post it doesnt seem to me that you were abusive to him. He dose however know that when your around at least he must behave himself. It won't permanently damage him in anyway and just from your concern over the matter it's obvious how much you love your animals. I wouldn't spend any more time worrying about it.

Thank you for your reply - me and my hubby do love all our furry/feathered babies, and Frodo does not seem to have any ill feelings towards me - I am still the " treat lady" he came running to me " talking" his head off when he saw the plate of his fav treat watermelon, so I guess things are fine for now I did put him and the other ducks back in thier own yard just to make sure he does not go after the chickens and try to have his "evil way" with them nasty duck LOL
My only other opition was to get rid of him and I just could not bring myself to let him go- no matter how much he is a brat about wanting to mate with the chickens
