Was this a hawk attack? (Graphic photo)

I love having roosters in my flock, but they get killed in predator attacks too. They complete the flock social order, and do alert to danger. beautiful additions to the flock!
Approximately where do you live? It would help to be able to make recamendations.
Mary

Yes.. I know they will lay down their lives. We live just north of Kalamazoo, michigan. Our girls are 8 and 9 months old. We need a gentle roo.

Thank you for your help!

I am originally from Traverse City but have spent most of my life in Florida. I do have relatives around Kalamazoo. I don't think the color of the birds matter. One day I had let some birds out for awhile but they all went back into their pen but one that followed me into the blueberries. A hawk came down so fast and killed her. It happened so fast I really didn't have any time to react. She was a Rhode Island White. The hawk didn't take her but did kill her. Several months ago a hawk got into one of my pens. I do have my pens covered with good heavy duty netting. I had to put it up in sections that I put together with cable ties. They deteriorated and came off and left a gap where I suspect the hawk got through. It killed several birds. I did manage to get the hawk out. I have replaced the cable ties with hog rings. These were RIR pullets not far from starting to lay. Some of the bodies I took out of their pen.
