Was this from mites?

I would clean and apply the ointment suggested by the vet. Then I would put an apron over her so the others won't peck at itand to prevent an amorous roo from mounting her. Chickens automatically peck at anything red, which is why auto-watering nipple/buttons are red.

It does look like an attack of some kind. As far as the type of bird, she looks like a Golden Laced Wyandotte. The golden version of Silver Laced Wyandottes, very pretty birds I have some of both as well as Buff Orpingtons. The Golden Laced are very sweet, the Silver Laced are more high strung, not as gentle. Good luck with getting your birds on the mend.

The bird has pencilling rather than lacing. Very similar but if it was golden lacing, there would be no black patterning in the middle of the feathers.

Looks like my RIR hens when the roo get overzealous....he does have his favorites and that is what it looks like.....

I'm not sure if someone said it already but the Chickens breed looks like a Barnevelder. I built the website Hillsidepoultry.net and remembered those markings from the pictures I added. The picture of this breed is featured in the "Poultry Breed" section
