was told i got leghorn hens/RSL pullets. do you agree? UPDATE!

Do you have pics? If it's laying white eggs, I agree - it must be some other kind of mix and not a red sexlink or rir after all. Red sexlinks don't breed true - maybe the seller bred his original RSLs to each other without knowing this.

I know you cross a white chicken with a red chicken to get red sexlinks, but I'm no good at genetics and don't know whether you can use a leghorn as the white chicken. If so, that could explain the white eggs and the fact that it's not a first generation sexlink would explain why it wasn't able to be sexed by color.

What stands out the most to me is the chick on the right in the firs tpic, has white legs, while the other has the typical RSL yellow legs.

Is the white legged chick the roo?

nope, the yellow legged one was a roo. he went back to the local chicken lady where we got them both from...we can't have roosters.

She definitley has white legs, which I would think rules out RSL's...but I'm not *that* chicken-knowledgable:)
