Wash eggs?

So long as you are not selling them you can do what you want as regards washed, unwashed, refrigerated or not.

I personally wash and refrigerate all of mine. If you're not going to keep them for weeks and weeks this whole bloom thing is vastly overrated. I prefer to eat my eggs as fresh and as high quality as possible so I keep them in the fridge until I eat them.

If they look clean, I leave them alone because of the "bloom" thing, but if they are dirty, I definitely wash them. I refuse to put chicken poop in my fridge. Just sayin.....

I get the poop off if there is any, but it's unusual. Otherwise I never wash them. Been eating unwashed eggs off and on all my life, and I have 6 grandkids, 9 to 20.

Yes, this is the age old debate.

If you must wash, just be sure the water is warmer than the egg. This encourage bacteria to move out of the shell -- instead of in. Probably best to do it just before eating.

Commercial operations are required to wash them. I believe they use a very mild bleach solution.
