washed pebbles for button quail?

ok so i have some larger white gravel for a fish tank (the pebbles are about the size of a navy bean) they cant possabley fit them in there mouths and i think it would be beautiful to look at and easy to clean since i could take it out everyday to wash it BUT would it be too hard on there feet?

It should be fine, maybe put some sand or something underneath the pebbles so they'll have something to eat/dust in when they inevitably dig
