For FFA I am going to wash my silkie hen. The presentationhas to be 10 munytes long. Does anyone have tips for washing or tips on how I can make it last ten minutes?

Well, I'm not really sure because I've not had to wash any of our chickens yet. Maybe you could discuss the breed type you will be washing and give some background information on the breed as you are giving the washing presentation. Will you be doing the three bucket type of wash?

Howdy,

I've never washed a chicken... I lie, I washed a chick once, but not for grooming purposes! Why don't you try this section Breeds, Genetics, & Showing ? I'm sure someone there will be able to advice you.

I am not sure if silkies require something different than regular poultry but my DD would also bathe her birds at least three days before the show. That way they have time to get their natural oil back in. I think a hair dryer might help fluff her up before you go into the show ring. Good luck. :thumbsup
