I have read many times not to wash or clean the eggs before incubating. Just wondering why?

I read somewhere that they have a protective coating that prevents them from getting any kind of bacterias. If you was them it takes the coating off allowing bacteria to inter the pores of an egg.

I have read that too but I washed mine. I couldn't stand putting them in the incubator dirty. I will have to try the sand paper thing next time I guess.
