Washing My Frizzle

Hello ,
as some of you know i am showing my frizzle and i have been reading up on washing my chickens ... it was saying put the shampoo and conditioner on the way of the feathers ... so what way do i do it because when my frizzle gets all wet she looses her frizz ... do i put it on the frizz way or the smooth way ?
Or has anyone got any tips on how to wash my frizzle ...

from head to tail. The other way around can break it's feathers

I show frizzles as well.... always wash them about 4-5 days before and let them stay in a wire bottomed cage.

Thanks for that i am washing them 5 days before the show but i will be keeping her in a wooden bottomed cage does it make a difference ?

probably not, but I like wire bottom better cause it allows better air movement.... you know how flat a frizzle can get on damp humid day...
