you don't know Forks.

We drove through there stopped at a small store/gas station I believe it was two summers a go.
Looked like any other small town to me but of course not living there is a whole different story.

Please expand on your comment what you meant?

Have idea for you but first need to understand that comment as I may need to adjust the idea.

There are very few people interested in the thought of chickens, even fewer who have them - And the people who do only want hens who lay enough eggs to keep them out of the pot. Also, I doubt people here want to pay much over $3 per chick. Now, in Port Angeles and Seqium, yes, I can count on buyers - But this is just a logging and Twilight town.

Sorry if my comment seemed too vague or harsh.

Not too harsh at all, reality is what it is, always.
I do have a suggestion, maybe will help you ?
How about contacting a feed store, and offering your babies once a month or so...explain your pure breeds...and ask for a month or two for trial period.
If the chicks sell, they will want more.
Gotta ask the proprietor, not the clerks...and arrange a time to meet him/her, bring a price list, and I would bring nice photographs of my birds and awards won...like the nice photo of Hades, for one!
It well could be a nice relationship.
You will no doubt be getting $3 a chick and he/she can sell for $5 a chick, purebred chicks, and less for mutts.
I like to raise them a bit, to about 3 or 4 months (off medicated feed and almost ready to lay...) and then sell them for alot more.
Most of my buyers have asked for just grown birds, they have no time or inclination to learn how to brood chicks, nor room, nor patience.
Most people nowadays are into instant gratification...and when they want chickens, they want chickens.
They want eggs now.

Already done that. This spring I came to our Co-Op, some 80 miles away, and asked the lady if she ever accepts chicks from a local breeder. From there we went talking stuff like real Ameraucanas vs her "Ameraucanas," etc. She eventually got me into contact with our local poultry 4H leader and a couple interested buyers for the fall.

Illia, maybe the best (and onliest) option you have, being in a secluded area...is hatching eggs...auction on eggbid, ebay, BYC and the like...and sell those beautiful eggs !
You can live in the tiniest town, as long as there is a post office...look at Coldwater Creek...in a few short years, and with outrageously high prices...Coldwater Creek has grown to a mega corporation selling crappy clothes made in sweat shops in China and Pakistan...all the while nestled in the north of the then small town of Sandpoint Idaho...
Use the web to sell your eggs.
You can ship chicks if you have a decent air port there...or even Fed Ex overnight I think...

free silkie roo looks to be black?

With gold leakage. And a tiny crest.

Do I recall someone here wanting a Lavender Ameraucana cockerel? There's one on CL -

Maybe WA4HPoultryMom, everything LAV !!!!!

I'll have to pass for now. I just spent time looking at my Orps & Ameraucanas. I think 2 out of my 3 new Lav Orps are Roo's, plus the older two I have outside, would be 4, yes FOUR Lav Orp Roos. Anyone need one? And one hen.

Out of my 3 black Orps and 1 blue Orp, I think only one of the blacks is a Roo, so that worked out perfectly.

Luckily I can breed one of the Lav Roo's with the black hens to get the split black offspring that carry the Lav gene, so it should still work out ok, except for the surplus of Lav Roo's.

In my Lav Ameraucana pen, I have 4, and if I had to guess now, I'd say 3 were Roos.

It's much harder to tell with these, so hopefully I am wrong, but 3 have a lot of pinking up in their comb and one has a comb that is dull and pale still. Any other clues on sexing the Ameraucana's?

And we had two of our OEGB Crele's hatch overnight, so they are keeping our little cochin company. I think she (hoping!) will be a darker blue cochin.

Oh, and my single blue cochin bantam hen has gone broody as well. I keep putting her back in the run, but she's not having it! I may end up putting a few of the new shipped eggs under her at this rate!

Taking the girls shopping, they had a half day today. Chat with you all later!

What are the genetics on the lavender color? If I have lavender orp hens, pullets really (just got 2 from Monica) do I eventually need a lav roo or a roo with lavender in him but that is black? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I am new...
