Their original temperaments sound very similar! He was a "special needs" dog at NOAH... had been there 3 months and was crazy hyperactive. Him and our dog clicked and immediately calmed each other out - thank heavens!
He's probably close to 80#... could stand to loose a few.
He was billed as a "Shepard mix" when we got him but doesn't look like any Shepard I've seen. I doubt we'll ever know his true breed.

Ugg... Is it November 4th yet??? Oh darn its not even close... Still have 16 days of clean up at the rescue... I'm beat. So far I have hauled out 42 stall mats, 2 truck loads of lumber, feed racks, feed bins, 45 assorted horse blankets, 4 horses, 5 muck buckets, a horse trailor, about two miles of fencing, there is more but I can't remember it all... My unkle and I have carefully demolished and moved two sheds, and demolished a large roof that was sitting on the ground. We loaded a small garden shed, it took 4 people to get it into my truck. My arm almost got smashed between the shed, and my bed rails...

We still have about 12 stall mats to pick up, all the yard tools, two big rubbermaid two wheeled wheelbarrows, hoses, pig sheds, dog beds & crates. Along with the rest of the fencing, bucket brackets, and other misclanious stuff...

The two foster mares have settled in nicely, and are quikly growing on me. I love older horses, most are so very kind.

My girls are happy with me today. I let them out to roam for the first time in over a week today. Hopefully they will put themselves back on their own tonight... Its always a chore to get them back in the coop, after they have roosted in the trees.

I'm new here too. I'm down on Camano Island. I've got some relatives up your way... between Concrete & Rockport just off Hwy 20. It's very beautiful up there!

In the spring maybe. When I get my bigger coop/shed. My girls were all out of the brooder when I got them. I would love some little fuzzy wuzzies.

Has anyone ever used rubber mats in their coop? If so did it work? I think Im gonna try it out and see how well it works or if it is a major fail. lol

What do you all think? Is using rubber stall mats overkill?

Holy Smokes you guys have been chatty lately!!!!!

----------------------------UPDATE----------------------------

Palmer (my female duck) is doing much better. I still don't know what really happened but I think she was preening herself with the slug slime and it screwed up her oil balance!

She is all better and back to normal now!!!

Cheryl I use rubber stall mat in my duck house. I put a bit of white pine shaving in the corner of the house and they move it to where they want it! I change the shavings twice a week and pull the mats out once a week and scrub them down with soap and water and a bit of bleach. I love the mats! Easy clean up!

Chickielady thank you for checking in with me! It was a pleasant surprise to get your PM when I logged in tonight!

Cheryl, about rubber mats: You will be hosing and scubbing chicken poop off for weeks.
Use shavings and compressed straw on the floor, sand in the poop trays, compressed straw in the nestboxes..no rubber mat, girl you will go nuts scrubbing the slippery poop off, with no absorbancy, it will sit there and just get nastier.
Naw, not a good idea in my opinion...
It is much easier to use shavings/compressed straw as compressed straw is soft.....I gut all the flooring materials out of my coops, occupied by 20+ chickens, about evey 6 months, sand in poop boards I clean every morning, in 4 big coops it takes me about 15 minutes, almost 99% of the poop in a coop, is under the roost.
