That was me. PUD here mailed us a note about it. We have a scheduled power outage on the 7th of November.

Normally we do, but this one is 7 hours long, which is stalling my plans for setting some eggs to hatch. . .

With winter storms around the corner (or here) I think it might be a good idea to buy a backup battery power box that are used for computers... the cost depends on how long you need it to run. the longer ones cost more $ but I think it would be a great safety net for those who hatch eggs. I think I'd try and get the longest one I can afford... not that I can afford much but even a hr might save the babies...

YUP PINK it really shows up in a carton of brown.
To make hard boiled eggs that will peel easy. Bring the water to a boil, set the eggs in with a spoon, boil for 15 minutes, remove from pour water off and add COLD water and ice. After they set for a few minutes they will peel as good as any egg.

For those concerned about power outages. You can get small portable 1000 watt generators for about $150. They will run an LG bator and some lights in the house. I use mine for the TV, directv and a couple house lights.

Why would your co-workers care if you brought eggs into work.. or even an incubator for that matter?

Because she's a BROAD! LOL I work for the county and she was complaining I was using "tax dollars" to run my incubator. I swear it was there one day--and my argument was that I pay taxes, too!

She complains about everything I do, say, wear, etc. Can you tell it's annoying? Anyway...the FAN bothered her...the clicking of turner--I can't even listen to my radio because it "drives her nuts." LOL

Your Incubator probably uses less electricity in 24 hours than her computer does if she only ran it while she was at work for 8 hours.

Not sure why the link isn't working - go to YouTube and type in: Natural History of the Chicken and you'll find it easy. Sorry for the confusion.
